September Dragonflies

I checked. These are dragonflies, not damselflies.

The brick wall in the background is on the west side of the house. It catches the afternoon sun and radiates heat to warm resting insects.
Photographic evidence that a few hosta flowers escaped the deer.
Photographing white flowers in full sun is tricky, so I fiddled a little with brightness and contrast.

So cool! I watched a bee collect pollen on flowers the other day and took some bad photos with my phone. I thought, "Ann would be able to capture this!"

Kristin: Bees are really hard to photograph. I've tried a few times with a very rapid shutter by setting my camera on the sports setting. The results were only so-so.
Patti: Thanks! Sometimes we get bright red or teal dragonflies. Not yesterday.

I love these--dragonflies are my favorite. Those transparent wings...
