Today was a good day for ice. And the sun was shining! The light has to be bright and at just the right angle to get that "Crystal Blue Persuasion" effect.
Ooh I like these Ann. The third one especially--that would be a fun one to show to kids and ask them what it remind them of. The ruffle of your grandma's table cloth? The Marching Band, lined up for a parade? Columns of the Parthenon? Ganoderma applanatum, also known as artist fungus, which everyone knows is the hangout for Bolitotherus cornutus, the forked fungus beetle? (Okay, I'm not really that smart...Jeff's PhD was on the mating behavior of said beetle.)
Thanks everyone. I'm hoping to photograph some spring flowers before too long. Buffy, I've seen lots of Ganoderma applanatum, but didn't know either name.

Love the pictures, especially the water that's not ice. That and the sun gives me hope that Spring might come.
Very unusual ice! Nice angles!
