Overheard #192

"If you’re not a thinking ball player, you’re not going to hit it out of the park."

Forgive me, I must be a little crude for once.

What IDIOT said this? A fastball and brute strength is often all that is needed to hit the ball out of the park. Fast reflexes, with little to no thinking, is what's needed.

Send this person back to the minors, for this person has no idea of the nuances involved in hitting a baseball, which is where the REAL thinker comes into play.

Example: It wasn't better brain drugs (thinking drugs) Major Leaguers sought out to hit those record shattering home runs, it was steroids, muscle-building drugs, they used to ruin the sport of baseball.

Bet some corporate executive is responsible for that quote. Shows how little brainpower he uses.

Stepping off my Soapbox now. "The things adults say," as Art Linkletter might have said. Thank you for your tolerance. In fairness, maybe the speaker was beaned by a beanball at some point in life.
